Q:Is it true that Cas has a hot piece of ass?
This rumor is DEBUNKED.
Unfortunately, we do not have a reliable, well-documented source of measurement for the temperature of any piece of Castiel’s buttocks.
However, we assume that Castiel’s entire ass experiences thermodynamic equilibrium, and is therefore all the same temperature. We also assume that, as Cas has fallen (as was the case when we received this ask; however we will assume for all intents-and-purposes that an envesseled angel is also in thermal equilibrium with its housing flesh, as Dean and Sam have never commented on Castiel’s body temperature being odd), his ass is roughly the average temperature of the human body: 98.6° F/37.0° C.
The term “hot” is subjective, but Castiel’s ass is not particularly hotter than a normal human body. Therefore, we’re classifying this rumor as DEBUNKED.
Q:IS IT TRUE THAT CAS DRINKING A WATER BOTTLE IS HOT
This rumor is DEBUNKED.
Given that Castiel is wearing a sweatshirt while he drinks his bottle of water, it’s quite likely that it is not in fact hot.
And it’s unlikely that he is drinking the water due to a fever, it is much more likely that Castiel is dehydrated.
Therefore, Cas is not hotter than normal human temperatures, and this rumor is Debunked.
- Dehydration isn’t sexy, it’s actually really serious. Between altitude sickness and dehydration, it’s not surprising that the Truck Guy in the beginning of the episode wrote off Cas’ apparent hallucinations as such.
Any rumors that Misha Collins will officially not be returning for Supernatural’s 10th Season are DEBUNKED.
There is no evidence, nor has there been any word official or otherwise, that Castiel and/or Misha will not return next year. Nor would we expect to hear anything until after the current season finishes whether Castiel’s fate is at stake (for spoiler reasons).
Therefore, this rumor is Debunked. If we’ve missed something, feel free to let us know.
- This, as with any spoiler, is tentative and we will update it with any new information.
- However, we will ONLY change the prognosis on this post via official information.
- Misha and many of the cast and crew have NDAs and contracts they have to adhere to.
- The wording of this post, “There’s a big chance Misha may not be in Season 10. This is not even speculation anymore,” disproves itself; if there is only a chance of a thing happening then it is, by definition, still completely speculative. Especially given this follow up post, which specifically states that the OP will not give details on the subject. Since there is no other information to corroborate these claims, we consider these posts highly speculative and unreliable.
The rumor masterpost is now (finally) up to date! Sorry that it’s been neglected for so long, but from here on out we’ll do our best to keep it current.
We’ve also added a new category to help ease some of the confusion we’ve encountered. Posts marked as INDETERMINATE do not have sufficient information to be classified as true or false, and it is unlikely that more information will come to light. We’ll also be using this category for posts that involve unreliable definitions or subjective inferences that cannot be factually based, but that we would like to address as best we can.
Again, apologies for all the disorganization. We’re trying to get through it all as quickly as we can! As ever, swing by our askbox if you have any rumors you’d like us to look at!
The rumor that #THINMAN is real has been DEBUNKED.
A copycat murderer was using the hoax to kill various people, but it was not a supernatural occurrence.
Since this hoax was created by the Ghostfacers, and they’ve admitted to creating the monster, we’ve categorized this rumor as Debunked.
That does not necessarily mean he’ll be in 9.17 as implied by the rumor, and so it remains Debunked. (But we’ll update with any further information after the episode tonight.)
Q:I saw a tweet from Osric that he's "stuck on set" and it had the Supernatural hashtag. Could he be shooting for SPN?
The rumor that Osric Chau is returning to Supernatural in 9.17 is DEBUNKED.
The tweet in question can be found here:
This happened the same night that Jared Padalecki tweeted about having to miss out on live-tweeting due to work.
Late that night, Osric also stated that he is “Here till the show finale”:
However, neither of these tweets confirms or even hints at the fact that Osric will be returning to Supernatural in any capacity. Via private communication with octoswan (Osric’s housemate) let us know that Osric is currently working on a different project (his tweet about being ‘on set’ just happened to coincide with a time when the Supernatural actors were also on set) and that she is not aware of any plans for Osric to return to Supernatural.
The wording in Osric’s tweets is vague enough to be misconstrued as that he’s not gone from the Supernatural cast, when he in fact is most likely referring to his status as a member of the Supernatural fandom. As he said in this tweet;
but it’s that time where I say my thanks and take that last step into the fandom and let that world envelop me as I continue to support the show and the fans that have changed my life.
Since he’s working on a different project and his interest in Supernatural is as a fan, we consider the rumor that Osric will be returning as Kevin Tran to be unfounded and therefore Debunked.
- As with any speculation about the future of the show, this rumor is subject to change.
- If Osric Chau were going to return to the show, he would probably not be mentioning it on twitter (due to NDAs).
- We’ll keep our fingers crossed anyway.
Update 25 February 2014: It’s clear from the CHCH Promo that Kevin will be returning in 9.14, Captives, as a ghost. That does not necessarily mean he’ll be in 9.17 as implied above.
As you’ve probably noticed we’re still behind on answering some very old asks, and we haven’t been posting much lately.
Trying to balance our own fandom blogs with this one once the show started back up proved to be more challenging than we were expecting! But it’s a challenge we plan to meet, we just needed to reorganize ourselves a bit.
We’ve turned off Anonymous asks and Submissions for the time being. Asks are still open though, so if there’s a time-sensitive or really controversial thing we’ll try to address that first—anything else will probably get put on the back burner until we’re all caught up. (Once we get ourselves organized we’re probably going to ask for some help too, so if you’ve ever wanted to be a (de)bunker, keep an eye out for that!)
Thanks for all of your support and patience!
Q:I've been seeing posts on who's writing for what episode and I was wondering if there was anyone confirmed to write episode 9x15. I've heard the Klein was writing it or Eugenie Ross-Leming and Brad Buckner were doing it.
From what we can tell, 9.15 is most likely the episode written by Jenny Klein (her episode is definitely called Thinman, guest starring the Ghostfacers) and 9.16 is most likely written by Eugenie Ross-Leming and Brad Buckner (Blade Runners).
As we say on our (up-to-date!) Season 9 Spoilers page:
Episodes 9.15 and 9.16 were shot out of order, and the episode number on the press releases still seem to reflect this switch (whether this is deliberate or a simple mistake is impossible to determine as of now). However, since Klein definitely wrote the Ghostfacer episode, and since they definitely appear in Thin Man, we at the Debunker are fairly confident that this is the right episode order.
Thanks for the question!
The tweet in question is legitimate and is therefore CONFIRMED.
It was posted on Jared Padalecki’s timeline on the 26th of February, 2012, and can be seen on twitter here.
Due to the time and date of the tweet, it can be reasonably assumed that Jared was referring to an attendee of the 84th Annual Academy Awards, however no further comments were made.
As the tweet appears on his verified account on the same date, we consider this CONFIRMED.
Q:Mark Pellegrino tweeted anout "being back on set" - could you please debunk it is for Supernatural as The Tomorrow People also films in Vancouver (on which he's a series regular)? Thanks.
The rumor that Mark Pellegrino (as Nick, Lucifer, Hallucifer, or anyone else) is returning to Supernatural is DEBUNKED.
On January 8th, Mark Pelligrino posted the following tweet:
Though the tweet in question gives no specifics, it was posted only few days after this one, in which he states that he’s on his way to Vancouver to film The Tomorrow People.
As it can be reasonably assumed that Mark Pelligrino’s two consecutive tweets are related, the rumor that he is returning to Supernatural is DEBUNKED.
- At present, all rumors of Mark Pelligrino returning to Supernatural in season nine have been debunked. You can see our previous post on the topic here.
- As always, any rumors pertaining to future episodes are subject to change—we have no special insight into the upcoming plot, and because of the nature of the show, anyone could potentially return from the dead.
- Thanks for the info, anon!
Q:why is your icon a Thelemic unicursal hexagram
Thanks for the question, Anon!
Since we sort of named ourselves after the Men of Letters’ Bunker, we’re using their symbol as our icon. Considering that both the MoL and ourselves are interested in information, it seemed like a good Supernatural-themed icon for us.
Generally in the Supernatural fandom, the symbol is referred to as the Aquarian Star—and SuperWiki’s explanation about it here is great so we’ll just leave you with that!
The rumor that the baby in Heaven Can’t Wait (9.06) is played by JJ Ackles is DEBUNKED.
The baby playing Tanya in Heaven Can’t Wait was sadly not credited, but by comparing images of JJ with Tanya’s actress we can easily see that it could not have been JJ Ackles:
[Danneel and JJ, from Danneel’s twitter]
[Danneel, Jensen and JJ, from Danneel’s twitter]
[Baby Tanya in 9.06, from Home of the Nutty]
[Baby Tanya in 9.06, from Home of the Nutty]
The babies do not look alike, and are likely not even the same age. Therefore, the rumor that Tanya was played by JJ is Debunked.
